Description
Rising – CD by Githa Ben-David
Vocal music for healing and self-healing
‘Rising’ was created with the inspiration from cancer patients with motivation to sing themselves healthy. The greatest pioneer of them all was abandoned by the established medical system with pleural (lung) cancer among other things. She treated her self with ‘Rising’ twice daily for three years with promising results.
Githa Ben-David states: “It is my experience via feedback from listeners that ‘Rising’ generally strengthens the immune system and that the CD therefore can be used in a broad context. A listener experienced getting rid of her hearing loss during listening to the main track ‘Rising’, possibly because the track contains overtones above 9000 Hz. Others have mentioned that the music calms them, and others that “Rising” helps them overcome sleep problems. There are therapists who use “Rising” during their treatment. I myself always use “Rising” at the dentist, where the music take away my pain and I have thereby avoided anesthesia. Several cancer patients use “Rising” daily. In some the tumors have shrunk, in others the cancer has stopped in its development. How much influence ‘Rising’ has on the healing process no one knows for sure. My only advice is: Listen within yourself. What feels good is right.
We know from Annie’s and other listener’s experience that singing with Rising might not heal the cancer, but it seems to stop the development. The chromatic rising in tonality in “Rising” Githa build into her composition because Susanne Edhin (a medical doctor) has said that cancer cells do not like chromatic movement in notes. The fact that singing strengthens the immunesystem – the long exhalation activates the parasympathetic nerve system and that deep breathing hightens the levels of oxygen in the blood – are all factors that indicate that singing long notes can fight the growth of cancer. The baby sounds in the introduction is Ghil, Githa’s son shortly after being born.
Tracks:
1. Rising 39:44 min. Choir (quintet), solo-voice, ocarina/bamboo flute, great grandmother’s piano.
2. Womb 10:42 min. Sound of embryo (Githa’s son 39th week), Githa is humming for the baby. Recorded with the help of Anni Brehmer (midwife).
3. Roots 9:54 min. Choir (quintet) singing undertones, African drum, kalimba. You can put your feet at the speakers and lead the vibrations by focussing in the particular places that need healing.
Recommendation by Annie Soerensen:
“I have listened to “Rising” once or twice daily for the past six month and I am still fond of it. My work with Rising strengthens my breathing and I am filled with energy and a feeling of well-being. Before I could only manage 250 meters on my exercise bicycle. Now I can cycle 5 kilometers.”
